Theme:

St. Patrick’s Day!

It seems like this week, everyone is Irish. We have so many wonderful crafts and stories that dovetail with this festive celebration. When we select the craft for our little ones, there are two important skills that we keep in mind: following directions and development of fine motor skills. The crafts are specially designed so the children can complete them independently, and they can feel pride and a sense of accomplishment. The crafts are beautiful and fun to complete. Some crafts we will send home and others we will proudly display on our bulletin boards. Children love seeing their work posted so others can admire their accomplishments!

This week we will create a Shamrock Man using different shapes and materials. This craft gives us an opportunity to review shapes as well. Another craft will involve making our very own Pot of Gold with a rainbow extending from the pot. Students will color in the rainbow as we review our colors and the children will control the crayon to stay within the lines. Fine motor and listening skills will be reinforced by making a “leprechaun plate.” Just maybe we will find something special at the end of the rainbow!

We will be on the lookout for surprise items the Leprechaun leaves in our classroom this week. You never know what magic the leprechauns can weave!

Special News:

Please send back Fun Club and Camp Enrollment Forms. Camp Turtle Creek is specifically designed for preschoolers. Each week the theme is changed to keep our little ones happy, engaged and learning through the summer months.

The Turtle Man will be visiting Turtle Creek on 3/17. All students are welcome. (If your child is not in school on Thursday, please give Lisa a call and let her know that your child will be attending this special presentation.) The Turtle Man has been coming to our school now for thirteen years. He brings his pet turtles and presents a world of information on turtles. The students will get to meet his turtle friends. They love this informative and engaging program.

Optional Parent/Teacher conferences will take plae on 3/22-3/25. Please contact me if you’d like to schedule a conference. I could call you or we could meet in person. I’ll be happy to work around your schedule. If you would like to meet at drop off or pick up time, I can get coverage for the class so we can meet and talk about your child’s progress.

If your child has any clothing that is green, please wear it on Thursday.

Have a wonderful lucky week!

Ms. Christina
