Morning Work/Everyday Tasks:
- Morning Do Now’s: The children will be presented with pages with only half of the picture on it. They will be expected to complete the picture by drawing in the missing half ( heart, snowman, winter hat, snowflake, palm tree, oak tree & Christmas tree). This will help sharpen their spatial awareness skills.
- Pledge of Allegiance & singing patriotic song
- Calendar & Weather Chart
- Days of the Week & Months of the Year songs
Math:
- MONEY MONEY MONEY . . .
- I will be introducing the concept of money to the children. This will be an ongoing lesson over the next few weeks. They will learn through real life visuals (dollar bills and coins), flash cards, math worksheets, books during literature time, money poems, play acting with the aid of a mock store and of course $ BINGO.
Phonics:
- Students will continue sounding out, listening and writing the beginning, middle and ending letters of the words in the spaces provided.
- They will also decode using their color/number charts as a resource. Most of this work is done independently. The children are making great strides and progress with minimal help/guidance from me.
- This week we will continue working in the Red Phonics workbook, as well as Flash Card Fun, always an activity the children enjoy!
Social Studies/Art:
- Last week the children learned a few facts about the Cardinal. This week they will be making a pinecone birdfeeder to help nourish their feathered friends during this cold winter. It will be sent home on a string. All you must do is find a branch in your yard to hang it on!
- With the upcoming President’s Day Holiday on Monday, I will talk with the students about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. There will be some correlating worksheets and art projects to go along with the discussion.
Science:
