Gentle Reminder & Special Notes:
- The student with the most minutes read for the month of December was Yianna Zacharatos! Congratulations Yianna. We are all very proud of you.
- I am very happy to see so many children getting involved and excited about reading, but I am still hoping that one of these months there will be 100% participation. Let’s make 2022 the year when everyone takes a book and READS! – READS! – READS!
- Today begins Day 10 of our January At Home Reading Challenge. Please be sure to keep track of the minutes on the January calendar sheet. All January sheets should be handed in on Tuesday February 1st.
- Each child needs to hand in the temperature slips every day! Please have your child walk into school with the slip in his/her hand. If you need more slips, I will be happy to give you some more.
Math/Logic
This week we begin math work in the Early bird resource book. The students will:
- Count, write and circling numbers
- Work on problems focusing on: Which has more? Which has fewer?
Phonics/Reading
Our class continues to focus on the concepts of short / a/ and / i/ in our readers while introducing the short /o/. As I’ve mentioned before, the young reader can never have enough practice or review. Please continue to read with your child every day. When their readers come home, have them read to you as often as home time allows.
Today’s reader is tomorrow’s leader.
Letters
We are winding down to the end of our letter packets. Only have a few more left to do. This week we will focus on /Kk/ and /Ee/.
