Letter V Number 17 Color Violet Purple

Dear Pre-K Families,

I hope that you enjoyed the beautiful weekend. We had so much fun last week celebrating Dr. Seuss and all of his wonderful books. We learned about rhyming words, reviewed our letters and sounds as well as reviewed our numbers. We worked on recognizing patterns as well as similar and different objects. This week we will learning about the letter /Vv/, with both our sound recognition and writing exercises. We reviewed numbers 1-16 last week and will continue this week with the number /17/. We will continue to practice our number writing skills as well as our numerical cognition.

Corresponding with our letter /Vv/ study we will be learning about the color violet, volcanoes and Van Gogh. We will continue working hard in our reading groups. Please continue to read nightly with your children and ask them to picture read books to you. Please be sure to go over the sight words that are being sent home with each group. This will be crucial to help the children gain fluency in their reading.

We are going to begin working on teaching the children to recognize their last names in addition to learning to write their full names. Please continue to practice writing skills at home and remind the children to start with an uppercase letter followed by lowercase letters.
