Pre-K Highlights November 11th – November 15th

Weekly Theme:Community Helpers Weekly Letter: Dd Weekly Number: 6

Dear Pre-K Parents, This week we will be learning about our community and the helpers that live within as well as how important their role is. Some of the activities this week will include matching up community helpers to their proper place and tools, creating our own doctor kit, coloring and finding sight words in a small community helper book, creating the letter Dd artwork in this case it will be turned into a duck,(“Quack,Quack”) and making a dump truck out of shapes. This week, Dd will be introduced to the class. We are going to learn the mechanics of the letter as well as the sound it makes. We will be reading “Alphatales Letter Book” as well as brainstorming a word wall list of “D” words. This is to help class use the letter we are learning and understand the sound it makes. We will be reading one of my favorite books THE DOT by Peter Reynolds and we will take this opportunity to talk about a great artist George Seurat, affectionately called Seurat the Dot! We will use him as inspiration to create our own “Masterpiece “. We intend on starting the discussion for Thanksgiving and what it means to each of us, This will be a month long discussion.

Reminders:

  • Our school wide food drive will end on Friday, November 15th.
  • Sign up for our conferences is by the sign in sheet; please have a look and see if you are available to meet with me on one of those days.
  • Conferences will be on Monday and Tuesday, November 18th & 19th. Those days will be half day sessions to allow our teachers to meet with parents in the afternoon.
