Pre-K Highlights October 14th – October18th
Weekly Theme: Germs and Healthy Bodies Weekly Letter: Gg Weekly Number: 2/two Hello Pre-K Families! I hope you all had an amazing Fall weekend and enjoyed your Monday off. We have another exciting, action packed week in Pre-K. This week we will be learning about germs and how to keep our bodies healthy. Although this is a subject that is discussed everyday, we will delve deeper this week. We will discuss what germs are, how we can keep them away, the importance of handwashing and what we can do to keep ourselves healthy. Our activities this week will be creating our own germ book, glitter germs with our hands and our very own soap from scratch! Our fun soap will be created after we talk about the steps for washing our hands and this year it is also coupled with us “washing away breast cancer”. Remember to have them wear their pink on Friday! The letter of the week is /Gg/. We will be exploring all things /Gg/ as we read the Alphatales Gg book, create our class Gg list and create their very own Gg craft. We will continue with our shapes and colors, with introducing the diamond and creating our Color book. Throughout next week I will assess drawings of each shaped learned and the letters and numbers learned so far. We will also continue to strengthen fine motor skills with coloring, using play dough and other manipulatives. Please have them continue their scissor skills at home and practice writing their names. “The first thing is always the same, we write our name”, is something that your child hears repeated all day. They are to write their name on everything we do throughout the day. Some of them are still finding this to be a daunting task. Please have them practice at home, with the first letter of their name being a capital and the rest are lower case. Us working together will add to their success. Please have them dress for movement and outside this week. We will going outside as much as the weather allows and will be moving around extra during our creative movement to practice exercising for a healthy body. Have a great week, Mrs.MReminders:
- Friday, October 18th: We plan to show our support for Breast Cancer awareness. Please send your child to school wearing pink. 💗 (Even if it is just an handmade pink ribbon)
- Wednesday, October 30th we will be having a Halloween parade and our class party. A class party list will be put out on Friday. Please sign up to contribute for a wonderful party and/or to join us in celebrating.
- Homework is due the last day of the week your child is in school.
