Weekly Theme: My Family / Animal Families Weekly Letter: C Weekly Number: 0
Hello Pre-K Families! This week our theme focuses on our families, different kinds of families, and animal families. Our activities this week will acknowledge the members of each child’s family, discuss who lives in our households (including our pets), and share the love and appreciation we have for our families. Some of our activities include creating a house out of shapes, drawing pictures of or family members, using play-doh to create a make believe house, and even playing “house” in the dramatic play area. In addition, this week, we will begin our first “Letter of the Week” beginning with the letter C. We will practice handwriting the letter C, creating a Caterpillar inspired by Eric Carle, create a letter C using Pom-Poms to enhance our fine motor skills, and we will also create our first list of words for our “word wall.” At the end of the week, we will be discussing animal families. We will be able to match baby animals with their mothers, after reading Are You My Mother by, P.D Eastman, create an animal counting book, and play “farm animal charades.” On Friday September 27 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM our class will be going outside to see the petting farm. Students will be able to take pony rides, hold baby animals, and pet a variety of farm animals. All parents are welcome to join us! This is an Open House so tell your friends to come and see our wonderful school!Weekly Literature:
