TCLA Preschool and Enrichment Center Newsletter September 2019
WELCOME BACK:
Welcome Back to TCLA Preschool and Enrichment Center. We are thrilled that you and your child will be joining us for the 2019-2020 school year. We have wonderful plans for the year ahead: which you will hear more about at orientation and back-to-school night. During the month of September we will focus on appreciating this great Earth and the importance of recycling. We are looking forward to seeing you at orientation. If you have any additional questions after the orientation, don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or Lisa Vanasco, our bookkeeper and co-director, along with Ms. McDonald. We are looking forward to another fantastic year!SECURITY
At orientation, you were given the new 4-digit code to enter the building. Please do not share this code with anyone else. A coded entrance assures us of one more level of security. The door locks automatically behind you but you must make sure that you have closed the door tightly. We recommend that you push the lock button when to leave to make sure the door is locked. If anyone other than you (the parents) will be picking up your child, please alert us by note or phone call so we will be expecting the new person even if you have given authorization to this person on your emergency card or enrollment document. We will ask to see identification the first time they pick up. If you will be dropping off your child later than the 15 minute window after the start of class, please take your child to the office so the director can walk your child to class. It is too disruptive to the learning process to have interruptions.PAPERWORK
It is imperative that we have all the necessary paperwork to complete your child’s enrollment documents. The emergency card and the health and medical records are the most important forms for us to have on the first day of school. If you have not submitted the immunization records, please have your doctor’s office transcribe the immunization record onto the official yellow card provided to us by the state. When the health department audits our records, we are asked to present the yellow cards. It takes an inordinate amount of time for us to do those transcriptions. Likewise, if your child is going on to the public school next year, we are required to send these yellow cards to the school.UPCOMING CLOSINGS
We will be closed on Monday, September 30th and Tuesday , October 1st in observance of Rosh Hashanah. We will also be closed Wednesday, October 9th for Yom Kippur. An optional camp will be offered to parents that need coverage on these days for a nominal extra charge. We will also be closed for students on Monday, October 14th for Columbus Day. Teachers will be on site for a Professional Day.BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHTS
During the orientation, you and your child had an opportunity to meet the teachers and your child’s classmates. You will be informed about a typical day and some of the managerial things necessary for the beginning of the school year. During the Back-to-School Night meetings, you will learn more about the curriculum, the philosophy and the teacher’s methods and strategies. Children should not attend this night. (If you are having trouble finding a babysitter, let us know. We know young people.) Wednesday – September 25th – Back-to-School Night for Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten Thursday – September 26th – Back-to-School Night – 3 year old classTEACHER HIGHLIGHTS – LOOK FOR THEM
You will be receiving teacher highlights on Sunday night or Monday morning. Your child’s teacher writes these weekly highlights to let you know the skills that will be covered, the books that will be read and the important activities or events that will be coming up. Please look for them in your email.NEW SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY
At orientation, the school’s new social media policy for the school, parents, and students will be explained. You cannot post pictures of other children in your child’s classroom without the explicit consent of the children’s parents. Some parents do not want their child’s picture on any social media page. Please be sensitive to that.YIPPEE KI YAY! – OPEN HOUSE
Happy Trails Farm will be here in our parking lot on Friday, September 27th from 10:00 – 12:00 pm. Children will be able to hold and pet small farm animals. They will also be bringing the cutest little pony for children to take a ride. If your child does not attend school on Friday, you are welcome to come by at this time. Please arrange with your child’s teacher. This will also be our first OPEN HOUSE of the year. Please bring your friends and introduce them to our wonderful school. They will be glad you did.MARLBORO DAY – SUNDAY, September 8th – 12pm – 5 pm
Come by our booth at Marlboro Day wearing your new green TCLA t-Shirt, that you’ll be receiving next week, and we will have a special prize waiting for you. Thank you in advance for your support!FUN CLUBS
Fun Clubs offer additional after school enrichment activities for your child. Every day there is a different class from 3:30-4:30pm. Please review the Fun Club schedule and see which class is best for your child. They are wonderful extensions of your child’s day.AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT CLASSES – Kindergarten-High School
Ms. McDonald, along with Ms. Krachie and several new enrichment teachers will begin their after school enrichment classes for children from kindergarten through high school on October 2nd. If you have older children who would benefit from their development in critical and creative thinking through math/logic problems, reading and writing, please pick up a schedule that is in the foyer. There are some openings for the fall schedule.HAPPY YEAR/Happy Rosh Hashanah
Wishing all of you a wonderful year and wishing all of our Jewish friends a very happy Rosh Hashanah.Categorised in: News
