Hello Pre-K Families,
I hope you all had an incredible Spring Break and wonderful holidays. Thank you so much for coming to the Art Festival and supporting our events. The children were so proud to show off their artwork. I hope you all found a great spot for your own ‘Pollacks’, they were very excited to bring their art pieces home after their first show. (All of the pictures are on our Shutterfly!)
This week we will focus more on phonetic sounds and creating more “CVC” words together. CVC words follow the pattern Consonant-Vowel-Consonant. These simple words are a great start for children to practice reading and spelling. Examples: cat, dad, dog, zip. We will play games and use matching cards to identify beginning, middle, and ending sounds of basic words. Please continue to practice letter recognition and phonetic sounds with your child at home. We will also be doing Fairytales & Nursery Rhymes this week. We will have story time with some classics, as well as watching and acting them out.
During math this week, we will continue to review how to properly form numbers 1-20. We have been seeing some number reversals, which is very common; please encourage your child to practice writing numbers at home. We will also continue with addition manipulatives and identifying different ways to add.
Before the break our class planted their individual plant. They will be taking care of it and observing its growth in addition to our daily observation of our tree. I am looking forward to the arrival of the caterpillars! It is going to be amazing to experience them observing the life cycle of a butterfly.
Looking forward to another week of learning, exploring and reviewing. Throughout each day we will continue with our handwriting, strengthening our fine and gross motor skills.
See you tomorrow,
Mrs. M
