April 3, 2019 8:18 pm Welcome Spring: Ah, spring is in the air. Hard to believe it is April already. We are coming down to the wire. Such a busy time of the year. Hope we all take the time to enjoy the freshness of a spring breeze, the chirping of very busy birds, and the flowers pushing their way up through warmed soil to delight our senses. Breathe. Take in the beauty of this season of renewal. Breakfast With Buddies: Thank you for attending that beautiful morning with your child. What a special activity the PTO so generously sponsored! The PTO may be conducting some other fund raisers before the end of the year to raise money for the yearbooks. Please support them. This school would not be the same without them. Spring Planting-Week of April 8th The PTO is sponsoring our spring planting. Each class will have a chance to plant flowers outside the school.  Hope we have some “green thumbs”! Art Festival – Thursday, April 11th, 5:00-6:30 – OPEN HOUSE This year we will be celebrating our 10th annual Art Festival. The children are busy creating masterpieces for you to enjoy. They will be displayed in the school that evening. In the north end parking lot, there will be games and crafts. Because it is an Open House, please bring your friends and neighbors to see our wonderful school. Spring Break – April 19th-28th Our school will close for Spring Break at the end of the day of Thursday, April 18th. We will return on Monday, April 29th. Enjoy that time with your children if you can. Mother’s Day Tea-May There’s no better way to celebrate mom than a very special tea party at school.  Date and details to follow from your child’s teacher. Planning for the last week of school: Friday – June 14th  – Graduation Ceremonies at Monmouth Worship Center on Vanderburg Road. Wednesday – June 12th – One session Day – Early dismissal Thursday – June 13th – School Closed (Teacher Clean Up and Set Up for Graduation) Camp Turtle Creek – Begins Monday, June 17th If you haven’t signed up for our great summer camp, please do so as soon as possible. We need to arrange staffing. Miss Kasey is our lead teacher. She can tell you about and show you all the wonderful units of study that we do throughout the summer. You can sign your child up for as many weeks as you would like. We will be taking our students to the YMCA on Friday for swimming lessons. Home Made Planetarium There are so many wonderful things about Turtle Creek but the best thing is our teachers. There is no other school that can compare with the quality, experience, sensitivity and professionalism of our teaching staff. Ms. Krachie, our dynamic kindergarten teacher, is creating a walk-in planetarium in the first room upstairs. The Pre K students will be contributing constellations and other celestial bodies to this project. When it’s done, we invite you to go upstairs and look around for yourself. Amazing project from a very creative hard-working teacher. The Green Teens of Marlboro Ms. McDonald has the most incredible group of high school students that she teaches in her after school enrichment program. They have started an environmental group committed to making people aware of the dangers of single use plastic bags. They are learning the skills of empowerment and how to affect change. They have started an Instagram account greenteens101. Could you please follow them?  They are looking to broaden their following. These kids are the future; I’d love for all the Turtle Creek families to support this group. And they want me to remind you to bring reusable bags to the grocery store or to recycle them back at the stores (They can’t be recycled nor should they be disposed of in your trash. Plastic bags last forever.) Also, continue to be very aware of your plastic use. I see that most of our parents use reusable containers for food, reusable water bottles, and send in forks and knives from home. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being so environmentally conscience. We will make a difference with even these small measures.
