Highlights for the week of March 25th – March 29th
This week’s letter: Zz
Review of numbers 1 thru 20
Hello Pre-K families,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are enjoying your Sunday. Spring is finally here! Here’s hoping for more Spring-like weather. With the nicer weather approaching, please be mindful of the clothing your children wear to school. We try to take them out everyday, weather permitting, to explore on the trail, write with chalk, run and play. Please try to have them in sneakers and check that extra clothes are up to date.
This week we will be learning the letter /Zz/. We will begin the week with our AlphaTales Zz book: Zack the Lazy Zebra by Wendy Cheyette Lewison and make our class /Zz/ list. We will then create our Zz crafts of zebras and zig-zags. We experience our gross motor skills by hoping, walking and jumping in a big Z formation.
We will also explore the theme of planting seeds this week. We will read The Tiny Seed and create a piece of artwork inspired by the story. We will review our numbers and addition with the poem One Little Daffodil and explore graphs with our pear tasting after reading, From Seed to Pear. As a class we will write our first cooperative story, after discussing what seeds need to grow. They are going to create a story about a seed. This will be so much fun to read back to them and of course I will send a copy home for you to enjoy with them.
Please let me know if you will be attending Breakfast with Buddies on Wednesday at 10 am…I have only received two forms back from the class. Also the sign up for the optional conferences are by the front door.
Looking forward to a great week,
Mrs. M
