February 4, 2019 8:59 pm Pre-K Highlights for         Letter of the week: Mm Feb. 5th, 7th & 9th            Number of the week: 15   Hello Pre-K families, Happy Super Bowl Sunday and Happy Birthday to Desmond! This week we are exploring the letter /Mm/ and the number 15 (fifteen). We will read our Alphatales Mm: Monkey’s Miserable Monday by Valerie Garfield and make our class /Mm/ list. The class will be immersed in the letter /Mm/ by learning about the moon, creating our moon craft, reading If You Give a Moose a Muffin and making some mud. As part as our /Mm/ theme,  we will also learn the months of the year. I have already introduced the song; we will continue to sing that all year. Other activities and mnemonics will be introduced to remember the order of the months. We will ask and answer the questions: What month is first? What month is last? What month is my birthday? Calendar time is another abstract concept, but we will start to grasp it through concrete explorations. On Monday we will be learning about and celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year. If you can please send your child in wearing red and with a red snack (apple, strawberries, raspberries, etc.). Also, EVERY Wednesday is Show-and-Tell; this week is something with the letter /Mm/. Please try to have your child bring in something; they get upset when they do not have something to share. Thank you to Patrick’s Nonna for being our next Mystery Reader on Friday! (Shhh…it’s a secret) I love how excited they get! Enjoy your  day and I will see you all tomorrow, Mrs. M Reminders:
