January 15, 2019 4:37 pm Pre-K Highlights Week of January 14th – January 18th Weekly Theme: Diversity Weekly Letter: Jj Weekly Number: 12   Hello Pre-K Families,   This week in pre-K we will be learning all about diversity and what makes us special in our own way. We are focusing on this topic this week to honor the memory and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. We will be stressing the importance of treating everyone equally, and we will also be learning about different cultures.   Our letter of the week is J. Students will help create a new word wall list of words that start with letter J. We will be creating a Jaguar letter J, our own jungle pictures, a jelly bean graph, and a jellyfish. While learning about the number 12, students will practice identifying what a group of 12 looks like and also how to properly form this number. We will continue addition using zero and one.   This week we will also begin practicing for our special performance on Multicultural Night that will take place next Thursday, January 24th. Our class is studying India.   Weekly Literature: Jazzy in the Jungle by Lucy Cousins Over in the Jungle by Marianne Berkes How do you Say it Today Jesse Bear? by Nancy White Carlstorm Jesse Bear, What Will You Wear? by Nancy White Carlstorm Just Like Me! by Barbara J.
