December 11, 2018 4:06 pm Pre-K Highlights Week of December 10th  – December 14th   Weekly Theme: Winter Weekly Letter: Aa Weekly Number: 9   Happy Holidays Pre-K Families!   This week we will be learning about the season of winter, the letter A and the number 9. We will observe the signs of winter. We will be creating winter crafts throughout the week as well as preparing special holiday gifts for our families.   The letter we will learn about this week is A. We will remind students that this letter has two sounds; the long a and the short a. Recognizing this letter has been easy for every child so we felt that practicing it before break was appropriate. Students will be learning how to write this letter throughout the week by constructing it with play doh tools, making rainbow patterns with markers, using dry erase boards, and free writing both an upper and lowercase “A”. We will also create a new list of words that start with the letter A after reading our Alphatales book.   While focusing on the number nine this week, students will not only be writing the number, but also recognizing what a group of nine looks like. A fun way we will be practicing this number is by pressing beads into play doh to create the number nine. This will also help strengthen our fine motor skills.   Next Friday we will celebrate the holidays during a class holiday party. Please send your child to school wearing his/her favorite pajamas. Your child may also bring their favorite stuffed animal. Please take a look at our party sign up sheet and thank you for contributing.   Weekly Literature: Alphabet Mystery by Audrey Wood At the Zoo by Claire Henley Angelina & Alice by Katharine Holabird Alphabears by Kathleen Hague Alexander and the Terrible Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst Armadillo Rodeo by Jan Brett The Story of Snow by Mark Cassino Winter Waits by Lynn Plourde One Winter’s Day by M.Christina Butler Snowman All Year by Caralyn Buehner Sneezy The Snowman by Maureen Wright There was a Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow! by Lucille Colandro The Biggest Snowman Ever by Steven Kroll Snow Day! by Barbara M.
