Pre-K Highlights
Week of November 12th – November 17th

Dear Pre-K Parents,
This week we will be learning about our five senses. We will cover one sense a day. Monday we will be focusing on the sense of touch. We will talk about different adjectives to describe how things feel. Using “mystery bags” we will try to guess what is inside using only our hands. Our craft will include making our own touch board.
Tuesday we will discuss our sense of hearing. During creative movement we will play with different instruments practicing loud and soft sounds. Wednesday our sense of taste will be discussed. Students will be able to try different snacks that they will identify after with a descriptive word. We will try a piece of lemon for sour, Swedish fish for sweet, pretzels for salty, and a piece of cabbage for bitter. We will discuss which parts of our tongues allow us to taste things differently. On Thursday we will have a blindfolded smell test while focusing on our sense of smell. Students will smell a variety of things such as cinnamon, oranges, vanilla, chocolate, pencil shavings, dirt, shaving cream, and onion. Lastly, Friday we will learn about our sense of sight. We will be taking a nature walk to observe all the different things we can see along our path. We will also lay on sheets in the grass to find different pictures in the clouds.
Students will also be learning about the letter D. We will be creating a new list of words that start with the letter D for our word wall. We always read our Alphatales book before creating our word wall to get some ideas. Throughout the week we will learn how to properly form both uppercase and lowercase D.
Our Thanksgiving feast will be on Wednesday November 21st . Please take a look at our sign up list. It will be greatly appreciated if you can send in items like mashed potatoes and stuffing hot, and inside of a tin pan, as we can not re heat the trays in school.

Reminders:
- A sign up sheet will be posted next to our daily sign in sheet for our Thanksgiving feast. Turkey will be supplied for the children. Our feast will be on Wednesday November 21st .
- Conferences will be Monday November 19th and Tuesday November 20th . Please look at the sign up sheet to pick a desired conference time. These days will be half days for the students. Dismissal time is at 12:15. Additional aftercare will be provided to those who need it. There will only be lunch for those students staying after 12:15. Please still send in a morning snack.
