November 5, 2018 6:05 pm   Pre-K Highlights Week of: November 5th – November 9th Letter of the Week: Tt Theme: Community Helpers Number of the Week: 1-5 review   Hello Pre-K Families! I hope you have all had a fantastic weekend! This week, although just three days, is packed with learning, creating, celebrating and more. Our theme for the week is Community Helpers, and although we discuss jobs and being part of a community daily, this week we will focus more on the importance of it. Monday we will start our Students Change Hunger Challenge. Mrs. V has already sent an email describing it. Our drop off will be in our classroom by the door. We will discuss as a class, how we can help those less fortunate by collecting food and/or funds. They will learn that although they are small, they are mighty, and can make a difference. I am looking forward to active participation, ideas and discussions from Monday until November 21st about this subject. We will also have special visitors for our Community Helper week! Monday we have a Dental Hygienist visit and Wednesday will be the fire truck. We are very excited! As always, if you would ever like to visit the classroom and discuss your work, please let me know. We would love it! Monday also starts our reading groups, as stated by Mrs. McDonald’s email on Friday.  Please check your child’s folder for a welcome letter from their Reading Group teacher myself, Miss. Kasey or Mrs.G and moving forward check it for additional communication and/or homework. *Please remember that learning to read is a complicated process and each child develops differently. Parents and educators need to nurture a child and help them foster a love of reading. Always remember to keep it fun! Our letter of the week is /Tt/ and we will be reviewing numbers 1-5. Please continue to have your child practice writing these numbers at home. It takes a little while for their little hands to get used to the movement in writing these numbers. There is still some confusion with two, three and five. Wednesday, to celebrate Diwali, The Festival of Lights, please have your child wear bright colored clothing. Bright colored clothes reflect the joy and excitement of Diwali. We will be making our Rangoli designs Monday and Tuesday so they are ready to decorate the entry of our classroom for Wednesday. We will also be clearing out our cubbies and read The Festival of Lights by Aneeka Patel to immerse ourselves more into the  Diwali celebration. There is NO SCHOOL on THURSDAY and FRIDAY! As always, I look forward to and am honored to spend another exciting week with your children! Warmly, Mrs. M   Reminders:
  • Reading groups start on Monday
  • Please bring in items for our Students Change Hunger Challenge
  • Wear bright clothing on Wednesday
  • Please put snack and lunch in separate bags
  • NO SCHOOL: Thursday & Friday
