October 22, 2018 7:24 pm Pre-K Highlights Week of October 22nd – October 26th   Weekly Theme: Germs and Healthy Bodies Weekly Letter: Ee Weekly Number: 4   Hello Pre-K Families!   Welcome to another exciting week in Pre-K. This week we will be learning all about germs and how to keep our bodies healthy. Our discussions will include what germs are, how we can keep germs away, the importance of hand washing, and what we can do to keep our bodies healthy. We will be making our own hand soap from scratch after we talk about the steps included in washing our hands. Some crafts that we will create are painting our own germs using our “crazy paint brushes,” making fake boogers with paint and glue (kids love this), and making glitter germs using our hands.   Our letter of the week is Ee. Students will come up with a list of words that begin with our letter to add to our word wall. We will practice handwriting our letter E’s all week in unique ways like using play doh, tracing in our colored sand trays, and also writing in a rainbow pattern. We will be strengthening our fine motor skills while we match plastics eggs, find letter e beads in our letter box using tweezers, create a letter E elephant and color our letter e pictures.   This week we will continue to review the basic shapes. We will learn how to properly form a diamond. Throughout the week we will assess drawings of each shape learned thus far.  (Heart, star, and diamond drawings will not be assessed, as these shapes are to advanced for your child’s age.)   We will be moving a lot this week during creative movement to practice exercising for a healthy body. We will be using exercise cards, having races, dancing with GoNoodle™, posing with our letter E yoga cards, and practicing our balance.   Weekly Literature: The Right Number of Elephants by Jeff Sheppard Eggbert by Tom Ross Germs Make Me Sick by Melvin Berger The Odd Eggs by Emily Gravett Furious George Discovers Germs by H.A.
