Week of October 15th- October 20th
Weekly Theme: Fire Safety

Hello Pre-K Families!
This upcoming week we will have fun learning all about fire safety and the letter F. Some of our discussions will be about how to stay safe in a fire, how to make a fire safety plan, who to call in an emergency and some causes of how a fire starts. We will also create a list of words that begin with the letter F for our word wall.
Students will work on art projects that reflect both our theme and our letter. We will create a letter F using “fire colored” tissue paper, paint with feathers, create feather necklaces, and also turn our handprints into flamingos. Some activities include stamping F’s with do-a-dot paints, playing a fire hydrant game using a die to help master number recognition, and completing a letter match firefighter worksheet. We will draw an original picture of something beginning with our letter.
During skill development, we focus on writing our letter and number of the week. By the end of the week all students should be able to properly form both the weekly letter and number. We are very proud of the progress we have seen in all of our students’ writing skills! Keep up the great work! Continue to remind your child that the first letter of their name is capital followed by lowercase letters. On Wednesday we will have a mini pumpkin patch at TCLA, sponsored by the PTO, where the students will be able to pick their own pumpkin. Afterwards, we will decorate our pumpkins.

Reminders:
- Monday October 15th we will have a special in school assembly with Muscle Man Mike! He will teach the students using magic, how to stay healthy, eat well, and exercise. If you read this in time, have your child wear his/her Turtle Creek T-shirt.
- Wednesday October 17th – We will be going outside in the back of our school to pick a pumpkin.
- Friday we will celebrate Stavros’ birthday! Happy Birthday Stavros!
- Next Wednesday October 24th, we plan to show our support for Breast Cancer awareness. Please send your child to school wearing pink.
