Pre-K Highlights
September 24th – September 28th
Weekly Theme: My Family & Animal Families
Letter: Cc
Hello Pre-K Families,
I hope you all had an incredible weekend welcoming in the Fall season. We have an exciting week planned. This week our theme focuses on our families, different kinds of families and animal families. Our activities this week acknowledge the members of each child’s individual family, discussion of who lives in our households (including our pets) and the love and appreciation we have for our families. Some of our activities include drawing pictures of our family, creating a graph of our class’ family members, making a house out of shapes and playing “house” in the dramatic play area.
In addition, this week we will begin our first Letter of the Week: beginning with the letter /Cc/. We will practice handwriting the letter Cc, create a Caterpillar inspired by Eric Carle, decorate a letter C using Pom-Poms to enhance our fine motor skills and we will also create our first class list of Cc words. We will have fun reading and discussing Pete the Cat and the Missing Cupcakes by Kimberly & James Dean and then decorating our own cupcakes!
At the end of the week, we will be discussing animal families. We will be able to match baby animals with their parents; especially after reading Are You My Mother by P.D Eastman. We will create an animal counting book and play farm animal charades. On Friday, September 28th Happy Trails Farm will be visiting us from 10-11:30am. Our class will be going outside at 10:30am to 11am to enjoy the petting farm. Your children will be able to take pony rides, hold baby animals and pet a variety of farm animals. We are so excited! All families are welcome to join us, so come visit!!! This is also an Open House if you know someone that would like to join our TCLA family.
Looking forward to seeing you at Back to School Night on this Wednesday, 7:30-8:15 pm. – Mrs.M
